Kicks, punches and royal feasting

#5 muay thai kickboxing

What a workout. I met up with my friend for 75 minutes of muay thai kickboxing @ American B0xing in PB. After an hour of kicking and punching a bag (to which I imagined it to be an amass of evil, tempting junk food transformed into a big, black faceless punching bag), I thought my arms were going to fall off. After the intense cardio session, the trainer had us do 400 ab workouts. I do 400 ab workouts in a year, not in ten minutes. As they say, no pain, no gain! I worked out muscles I've abandoned for years, and knew the following day I would be sore. But I felt great!

#83 medieval times

After burning what seemed to be a thousand calories, I was looking forward to an adventure to a castle where I would dine with my hands (of course I feverishly washed a millions times considering my hands were caved in wrappings and boxing gloves earlier) and watch equestrian sword-fighting and ... drink margarita in a massive goblet! Medieval Times was fun and the highlight of the show was a white horse getting down on the sand floor - nice dance moves there, buddy.

#30 Sol Food

Sol Food, nestled in San Rafael, was just five minutes away from my sister's apartment and I couldn't resisit visiting it twice the three days I was there. Sol Food is a delicious hotspot for Puerto Rican delicacy and reposeful ambiance. My favorite food, aside from spaghetti, is rice with plantains! We visited the place before it was on Food Network, so technically I didn't go because they recommended it--but I was thinking before, "this place could be on food network," and voila it was. They had postings about the show at two of their restaurants (yes two, practically across the street from another) and when you purchased food to go, they included a postcard reminding you to catch Diners, Drive Ins and Dives as they would be featured on it. Anyway, the food was divine, especially the sauces that came with my meal and the sweet or salty plantains.

#6 & #16 Running from credit cards

#6 I've ran the lake at least 20 miles this past week. Craziness. The crazy part is that I actually enjoyed it. I don't enjoy driving to the lake in anticipation of a run, but I love the feeling of being halfway done. And that makes it worthwile. I've met my goal of running the full 5 miles in 45 minutes. Four times. I'm surprised.

#16 I came home from grocery shopping one night, turned on the TV and found myself watching Suze Orman. Funny part is that I actually watched her entire show with interest. Three years ago I thought she was a Food Network star. Anyway, either I'm growing up mentally (I am a year older now) or I'm being more savvy with my finances, but this whole financial responsibility thing has got me motivated. Must. Pay. Off. All. Debt. I called the credit card companies and asked that my APR be lowered because, well, I've been paying on time, but only Discover card caved in---but only lowered it by .07%. That's it?? Sad, I know. This only motivates me to pay it off asap. After all, as the saying goes "The key to rapid debt repayment is to make a plan and then stick to it as if your life depended on it. It may. The details of the plan you devise for your own debt reduction are not nearly as important as your determination to carry it out."

#7 texas bound

One of the first stops we made on our short road trip to Texas was Sonic in Arizona. I've never been to Sonic, but the fast food chain's marketing gurus are brilliant for incessantly airing commericals in a city that didn't even have one in it, so when I first saw one in Tempe, I was excited. Especially when there were dozen's of "drive thrus" scattered around it. It felt like a twilight zone moment. Tanananana...

But it was 1am and my hunger was nonexistent so I didn't pig out like I hoped I would, although I did discover a drink that made my taste buds get down like James Brown--Oceanwater! Basically it's a coconut spiked, sprite drink. Small road trip was fun. I tried Whattaburger, visited one of the largest outlets in the nation in San Marcos and drove five hours straight (the longest I've ever driven) out of the 22 hour drive.

#91 going wireless

#91 When I thought of goal #91, I was thinking wireless for my laptop, but after I got the iPhone, I rarely used my laptop. It's a lifesaver when it comes to GPS (as I'm always lost) and anytime access to Google. You know, I just have to know what a posole and campachana is before I eat it.

Oh yeah, so I'm no longer a vegetarian. It only took two months, but at least I tried. Oh, and I rock at Tap Defense. Of course it took 43 plays, but I finally beat it (the easy level that is!) J and I took turns playing TD and he got whiny when I asked for my phone back.

#32 Donate clothes

I love clothes but I don't have any room in the closet for it. It's hard to part with clothes because I always feel like I'm going to wear it again some day, but with J's help ("pass, you'll never wear that") I was able to let go dozens of pieces. After the clothes sat in a big, white plastic bag for weeks in our living room waiting for one of us to donate it to a nearby Goodwill, I decided to relinquish it to my mother. After I told her that J gave his Play Station 2 to Goodwill, my mother pleaded we give her things we no longer need because she wanted to send it to the PI. Pasalubong, you know.
