#82 and the meatball-less

After listening to their music on youtube for five seconds, I deemed their sound comparable to some type of futuristic sound. I even asked my friend if the bad was 'gospel.' Don't judge a band's motif based on five seconds of listening to their beat. The venue was filled with gothic-esque musicgoers, a far cry from what I thought the audience would be.

Other than the unforgiving florescent lights (even the lead singer commented on how nobody in the audience likes too much light anyway to which I snickered with delight), it was a fun concert. It's great to experience a 'new' sound and environment once in a while.

Speaking of new things, it's been eight days since I've gone meatless. This is a challenge since I love spaghetti... but for now I guess I can use tofu or just go meatball-less!

New career = new benefits. I spent an hour reading up on my benefits and understanding each one. Now I don't feel like I'm in the dark when it comes to my work benefits. I hope to take advantage of each one by end of this year...or at least within 2.75 years.

Since I'm now a US citizen, it makes sense to rock the vote. I thought I had registered when I went to replace my Driver's License at the DMV months ago, but when I confirmed my registration to vote online, it looks like I wasn't recognized in the system. So after grabbing a form, I've filled out the details and mailed it off!

As much as I'm sad to say sayonara to my old passport, I'm estatic that I got a new one in the mail today and am now 'officially' a citizen. Technically I was a citizen about a year ago but I just recently applied for a US passport. Can't wait to put it to use!

101 :: 1001 Why Not?

Time flies. I've heard it a myriad of times and even uttered it many times myself, but it's become more of a statement rather than an urge for action. And then one day a huge bucket of clams struck my head and I realized that not only was time flying, but I had not accomplished anything I sought for five years ago. What was stopping me? What was preventing me from acheiving those goals? Did I even have any goals?

So I started asking myself what I wish I had done (or could do differently) five years ago--when I realized that revisiting my past would only create unnecessary 'regret' bubbles. Bubble #1: I should have... Bubble #2 Why didn't I... After all, the only way to really move on is to accept and make peace with the past so it doesn't spoil the present.

Rather, I found it more imperative to ask myself what I wish I could do in the present or near future. After all, I'm still in good health (Knock on wood!), have ample of resources and have nothing but my enemies Mr. Lazy and Ms. Excuses to prevent me from achieving my goals.

These two statements aren't goals I want to reach in 1001 days, rather they are lifelong, daily 'things' I want to keep in mind:

Do not compare your life to others, you have no idea what their journey is all about

Remember that you are too blessed to be stressed. (even in the simplest form, you are able to read this on a computer when many people in the world cannot afford a computer, or electricity!)

And so here is my list (discovered through Day Zero)--and I just realized I finished one out of the 101. I finished the list. 100 more to go!!!
